Our 2019 Photo Comp winners have been decided, and it was our toughest selection to date.
Once we had made the first difficult selection of choosing the top five finalists of each of the six categories on offer, the final decision was torturous. When we sat down and laid our eyes upon 30 images, with each image holding a unique perspective and vision, we knew the task ahead was brutal. We spent hours debating the potential outcome. What about this one? But this image shows the true adventure of surf culture? We stopped and stared in awe, laughed and immersed ourselves within each image - and below are the results of our thorough deliberation.
Over 430 individual entrants across the six categories made our task even more difficult. Day-by-day, we created a shortlist of favourites as they hit our inbox. The same question kept blurting in our brains, “how are we going to choose the winners?”
We were lucky enough to witness some of the worlds’ best offering of surf, lifestyle, travel, film, and portraiture photography after a long six-week entry period. Our community at SurfVisuals is so supportive and from the bottom of our hearts we thank you all. Going through each entry in this years’ comp was like being a kid in a candy store.
Still the question begged, “who is going to win this thing?”
After hours, upon hours of debating, we had found our answer. Look at each image, position yourself behind the lens, and describe the feeling the button clicker had while taking the shot. Take into account the skill and difficulty to create such image, and scale the wow factor out of 10.
Within a week, we had our winners. This is the most exciting news that has come out of our community for a long time, and we are stoked to finally announce the winners of the 2019 SurfVisuals Photo Comp. Without further ado, we welcome the class of 2019.
